Lagoon Drive set for four lanes

More changes for uMhlanga's roads: this time Lagoon Drive will be overhauled.

FOLLOWING news about changes to uMhlanga Rocks Drive to ease the burden of traffic, Lagoon Drive is also set for a major change because of the R3.1-billion Oceans Umhlanga Development. The road will now be converted into a four-lane traffic thoroughfare.

In an interview with Northglen News last month, Pregan Naicker, CEO of Oceans Development, said the busy road would undergo massive changes. It’s believed construction work will start later this year.

“The developers will be paying a contribution for the conversion of Lagoon Drive into a four-lane traffic thoroughfare, in addition to extending Ridge Road to link into Lagoon Drive, taking into full cognisance the projected increased traffic flow,” Naicker said.

Umhlanga Rocks Drive will also undergo major changes.

The first of the changes will see Umhlanga Rocks Drive be upgraded to six lanes. The road will also be converted into a four-dual lane carriageway between Herrwood Drive and the M4.
