Car overturns on M4, driver seriously injured
The third crash on the M4 in six days - reports suggest speeding may have been the cause of the accident.
A MAN believed to be in his late 20s was seriously injured after losing control of his vehicle at high speed, causing it to overturn on the M4 Ruth First highway early on Thursday morning.
“When paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 5am, they found the vehicle lying on its roof. The driver and only occupant had managed to free himself from the wreckage and was lying on the road next to the vehicle. He sustained serious head injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” explained Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical.
This is the third serious accident on the M4 since Saturday. In a similar scene, a car overturned near the uMhlnaga off-ramp and reports suggest speeding was the cause of the accident. The driver of the vehicle escaped serious injury.
In the second incident, a group of hijackers lost control of the vehicle they had stolen before crashing, also on the Ruth First highway.
