Criminals pose as estate agents, rob Durban North home

Domestic worker is fooled by duo posing as estate agents.

TWO women who posed as estate agents made off with more than R10 000 worth of goods from a home in Durban North this morning. The incident occurred at about 10am on Radar Drive said Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell. The criminals stole not only a laptop, but also a tablet and several PlayStation games before exiting the property calmly.

“The house was for sale and the women rang the intercom and told the domestic worker, who was at home at the time, that they were estate agents who were there to view the house. The domestic worker let the women in and they walked around the home and took several items and put them in bags they were carrying.

“At no point did they act suspiciously and were smooth in their operation. They stole a number of items before leaving in a white vehicle, which the domestic worker couldn’t identify, with GP number plates. I’ve heard of criminals posing as potential buyers but never a case of them posing as estate agents,” he said.

A home in Ballito was also targeted by the scammers on Friday afternoon. The same modus operandi was used and the women made off with several goods.
