A domestic violence case led to a suicide attempt over the N2 freeway.

A WOMAN was saved by paramedics from certain death after she attempted jumping off a bridge over the N2 on Saturday morning.

According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred in the vicinity of Queen Nandi Drive.

“Paramedics were alerted to a serious domestic violence situation on Queen Nandi Drive in the vicinity of the N2 bridge shortly after 2am. Both the man and woman were engaged in a violent argument with the female threatening to kill herself.

“A call was made for the assistance of the SAPS. During the scuffle, the female, believed to be in her 40s, attempted to throw herself off the bridge onto the highway below. Swift action from Crisis Medical paramedics saw one of the members managing to grab and restrain the woman before she could jump off the railing and fall to her certain death,” he said.

The incident was then handed over to the SAPS for investigation.
