Another MTN store hit

Authorities suspect that a syndicate is targeting major cell phone stores across Durban.

JUST two days after six armed men stormed the uMhlanga Ridge MTN store another shop in Musgrave was hit.

Police have reported that the same modus operandi was used in the second incident, which took place at around 3.30am.

It is suspected that a syndicate is targeting cell phone companies across Durban.

The suspects gained access into the store through the front door.

On Friday, six men armed with handguns and assault rifles overpowered two guards before robbing the MTN store at the Coastlands Gatemax centre on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.

Thousands of Rands’ worth of phones were stolen in the daring heist. The incident occurred at about 2.45am, said Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.
