Guard nabbed burning stolen cable

Police arrested the security guard while he was burning the stolen cable at the business premises.

A SECURITY guard was arrested after he allegedly stole copper cable from a business premises in Imvubu Park in Riverhorse Valley on Saturday night.

The suspect, who was supposed to be guarding the site, was reportedly arrested after he stole 15 metres of cable from the business property.

According to W/O Leon Audh of Greenwood Park SAPS the guard was nabbed shortly after a private security company spotted him burning the stolen cable.

Audh said the owner of the business was called to the scene at around 8.30pm and when he arrived at the scene realised that the property had been opened and raided. He called the police who swooped in and secured the arrest.

Last week Wednesday the Durban North police arrested a security guard in Glenashley, after he was found with 71 packets of dagga worth an estimated street value of R15 300.
