AN armed gang have held up and robbed a Prestondale family on Friday evening. The men also stole the homeowner’s car as well as other items including an undisclosed amount of cash. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred at about 7.30pm on Kingfisher Crescent.

“The family were highly traumatised by the incident, the suspects took jewellery, an undisclosed amount of cash and the homeowners car, a blue BMW, with personalised number plates. The suspects came in a black Polo. Thankfully no one was injured in the robbery,” he said.

Members of the Marshall’s special operations team and the SAPS later recovered the vehicle in Ntuzuma. The suspects had abandoned the vehicle which had been fitted with a tracking device.

There has been a spike in crime in the past week with three incidents involving armed suspects. The Prestondale incident comes a day after a similar robbery of a house on Station Ridge Road. On Wednesday night, a Durban North family were hijacked in their driveway after they were followed home from a local sports club.
