Man crashes Ferrari into Virginia Circle

The man has been placed on a ventilator and has been transported to a local hospital.

A MAN in his 50s is fighting for his life after crashing his luxury vehicle into the rockery display at Virginia Circle. The accident occurred at the bottom of Mackeurtan Avenue and paramedics have placed the driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, on a ventilator.

According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, the Ferrari hit the display and overturned.

“When paramedics arrived they found the Ferrari on its roof. They desperately tried to resuscitate him, he has now been placed on a ventilator and is being transported to a hospital. The injuries sustained are life threatening. Indications from the scene are the man lost control of the vehicle before hitting the rockery display at the circle causing the car to flip,” he said.

According to Crisis Medical’s Neil Powell the man was trapped in the overturned vehicle and had to be freed by attending paramedics.

“According to witness reports on scene, the vehicle was traveling at high speed down Mackeurtan Avenue. The driver lost control of the vehicle just before entering the circle causing it to collide with the barrier,” he said.

Residents have been calling for speed humps on Mackeurtan Avenue and Danville Avenue following a spate of accidents at the circle.
