WALKWAYS on three uMhlanga roads are set to be re-paved in a project estimated to take seven months to complete. uMhlanga ward councillor, Heinz de Boer said the project will tackle Chartwell Drive, Ocean Way and Lagoon Drive.

“The walkways will be replaced with clay brick paving, which is much tougher and durable. The project is in an effort to beautify the village and it will begin on the 1 August. It’s an important project because the sidewalks have been damaged and in some cases are uneven.

“I understand it’s going to impact the restaurants on Chartwell Drive but the City and the liaison officer for the project will do everything they can to mitigate the noise and dust levels. The project is expected to be complete in seven months and construction will stop on 15 December for the festive period,” he said.

De Boer added that the city and himself were open to listening to restaurants who were going to be impacted by the repaving project.
