Firearms and live ammunition found in Glenhills vehicle

The driver was arrested and handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

A MAN has been arrested following the discovery of several rounds of live ammunition as well as two firearms in his vehicle. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the company received a tip-off on Tuesday afternoon of a suspicious vehicle.

Officers later discovered the vehicle was used in an armed robbery of a convenience store in Rinaldo Road on Sunday.

“Our reaction officers responded to the area and the vehicle was intercepted on Allamanda Road. On further investigation the vehicle was confirmed to have been involved in the armed robbery earlier in the week. With the assistance of the SAPS, a search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the discovery of two firearms as well as live ammunition. The driver and vehicle were handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation,” he said.
