Hijackers give victim R20 taxi fare

The armed suspects had allegedly ditched the victim in KwaMashu.

A MAN was reportedly given R20 for taxi fare after he was hijacked and kidnapped by two armed men in uMngeni Park on Monday night. This according to a post shared on the Clarendon Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp group.

While W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS, could not confirm whether the man had been given the money, he could confirm that a case had been opened at the station.

“Two armed suspects hijacked the complainant of his white Polo on Atterbury Road,” he said.

He said the suspects arrived on foot before they forcefully took the vehicle.

Audh confirmed that the victim had been taken hostage and later abandoned in KwaMashu.

No arrests have been made and the vehicle has not been recovered.

This is the eighth reported hijacking in the Greenwood Park policing precinct in the last month.
