Cold front could bring weekend snow

The Midlands could see some snow this weekend according to Snow Report SA.

DON’T be fooled by today’s warm, balmy weather and temps, there’s a cold front on its way and according to Snow Report SA, temperatures are set to plunge and send us to haul out the recently packed away winter woollies. Snowfall is expected in the KZN Midlands on Sunday.

“The long awaited front hit the Western Cape on Thursday night. As always, snow forecasting for specific areas is extremely difficult, and can change so easily from day to day as the systems develop. Saturday morning could also see some snow on the KZN Drakensberg and the Eastern Maluti Mountains in Lesotho. By evening, more snow will be seen between Graaff-Reinet and Hogsback in the EC, intensified falls over the EC Drakensberg, heavier falls on the KZN Drakensberg and Lesotho, and some possible flurries in the Kokstad and Matatiele areas.

“Through Sunday and into Sunday afternoon and evening, there may be a few flurries in the KZN Midlands whilst heavy falls are still possible on the KZN Drakensberg, over much of Lesotho and over the EC Drakensberg. Falls could continue over the KZN Drakensberg and Lesotho into the night, but are likely to cease during the early hours of Monday morning as the front moves out to sea. Up to half a metre of snow can be expected to be left behind in places on the Southern KZN Drakensberg peaks,” the report’s Facebook page said.
