5 Injured in Avoca crash

The driver absconded from the scene, leaving his passenger among the wreckage.

FIVE people were injured during an accident on Effingham Road in Avoca on Friday night.

“On arrival, paramedics found that three light motor vehicles had collided. Five occupants from two of the vehicles sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the collision,” said Neil Powell of Crisis Medical. 

He said the driver of the third vehicle had absconded from the scene.

“According to eyewitness reports the first vehicle was travelling in an easterly direction, in the oncoming lane when it collided with the second vehicle traveling west bound. The first vehicle then proceeded to collide with the third vehicle before coming to a stop. The driver then fled his vehicle leaving his passenger behind,” explained Powell.

All patients were assessed and stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby facilities.
