Gardener found dead in Mt Edgecombe pool

Paramedics worked for more than 20 minutes trying to resuscitate him.

A GARDENER, believed to be in his 20s, was found dead in a residential pool in Mt Edgecombe. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, his employer found him floating face down in the pool and immediately called emergency services for help.

“The homeowner was coming out to feed him his breakfast and found him face down floating in the pool. Paramedics worked tirelessly and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him for almost 20 minutes but to no avail. At this stage it is unknown what occurred, the gardener is a known epileptic and was cleaning the pool when the tragic incident occurred. We believe he may have had a siezure and fell into the pool,” he said.

The drowning comes months after two toddlers were found floating in a residential pool in La Lucia. One of the toddlers later died after being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
