WATCH: Brazen criminals rob uMhlanga store

The men stole specialist equipment to the value of R700 000, according to the Durban North/uMhlanga CPF.

AN uMhlanga business owner is offering a R100 000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of a gang of robbers who broke into his store on Monday morning. The incident occurred at about 5.30am on Equinox Drive, confirmed Dean O Brian, of the Durban North/uMhlanga CPF.

The robbery which was captured on CCTV cameras outside the store shows the men breaking into the shop and then exiting a minute later with specialist equipment in tow. They then loaded the stolen goods into their getaway car before driving off.  According to O Brien, the value of the equipment taken was more than R700 000.

“This gang has been operating in the area and have targeted other businesses as well. They are mainly looking for electronic equipment of high value. These guys seemed to be aware of where the cameras were because they kept their faces hidden during the robbery.

“I urge business owners to be vigilant and to report suspicious behaviour. They are using high-end cars with tinted windows and have robbed different businesses around the same time. There has also been cases of the suspects casing out the stores before robbing them. Phone 10111 or the police or your security company if you see anything suspicious,” he said.
