uMgeni Park woman brutally assaulted in break-in

According to paramedics, the woman is in a serious condition.

A 68-YEAR-OLD woman was brutally assaulted following a break-in at her home on Sylvania Place in uMgeni Park. According to Crisis Medical’s Neil Powell, the woman is in a serious condition and has been transported to a local hospital.

“Police are currently on scene. The incident occurred just after 6pm. The elderly woman suffered a fracture to the base of her skull, we found strangulation marks and there was bruising to the orbit of the eye. She is in a serious condition and has been taken through to Umhlanga Hospital,” he said.

According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security it’s unclear what was taken in the break-in.

“An unknown number of suspects entered the premises. She wasn’t able to move following the brutal assault and her son found her on the floor and called for paramedics.”

Earlier this week, Brian Daish, Greenwood Park CPF sub forum 4 chairman, expressed concern over the number of crimes in the area.

In November last year, Dr  Vajnah Banoo Mahomed who was brutally murdered in her uMgeni Park home. The 63-year-old’s decomposed body was found by a neighbour at her Browns Drift Road home.
