Sharks trump against Bulls XV

The match was a warm-up in preparation for the Super Rugby season which begins on 24 February.

THE Cell C Sharks romped home to an impressive 53-7 victory at Crusaders Sports Club in Durban North on Friday night. The Sharks took on a Bulls XV as part of their preparations for the Super Rugby season. Kobus van Wyk scored a hat-trick with Cobus Reinach and Lwazi Mvovo also getting on the score sheet. The Durban franchise wore black armbands for their match in memory of Springbok stalwart, Joost van der Westhuizen, who died last Monday.

Head coach, Robert du Preez,was pleased with his side’s execution on the evening.

“This was an important match for us. It was our last opportunity to fine tune our plans before the Super Rugby competition starts. We need to be well structured and accurate with our execution. There’s a good spirit in the camp,” he said; “hard work and discipline have really brought the guys together. It’s always good to have that balance between the experienced and young guys in the team,” du Preez said.

The Sharks take on the Reds in their first game in Brisbane on Friday, 24 February.
