Man stabbed in face in armed robbery

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

A WORKER was stabbed in the face in an armed robbery on Inanda Road earlier this morning. The suspects posed as customers before robbing the store of an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS, the incident occurred at about 1am.

“Three men approached the store clerk posing as customers and pretended to want to buy an item. The clerk realised she did not have enough change and excused herself to go outside and get some. When she returned, the suspects pointed a fire arm at her.

“The suspects assaulted the clerk, hitting her on the head with the butt of the gun. A co-worker was stabbed in the face as the suspects were fleeing the crime scene. The suspects fled with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash from the till,” Audh said.

Greenwood Park SAPS urges anyone with information to contact Det/Cst N.P.Mhlongo on 073 862 1700.
