Petrol to go up on Wednesday

The price of diesel will also increase by 30 cents.

MOTORISTS will have to dig deeper into their pockets as the price of petrol is set to increase by 49 cents a litre. In a statement last week the Department of Energy said both grades of Petrol 93 and 95 (ULP and LRP) will rise by 49 cents, while the price of Diesel (0.05%) sulphur will increase by 30 cents.

The new prices are set to come into effect on Wednesday. The price of Diesel (0.005%) Sulphur will rise by 32 cents, while the cost of Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale) will increase by 34 cents and that of Illuminating Paraffin (SMNRP) will increase by 46 cents.

“The average international product prices of petrol, diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review,” said the Energy Department, adding that the Rand depreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review.
