Man robbed of R15 000 in uMhlanga

The suspects pulled up alongside the victim and snatched his bag containing a large sum of money.

A MAN was robbed of a large sum of money outside a bank on Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Tuesday afternoon. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS the man was robbed by suspects driving a black Mercedes-Benz.

“The men pulled up alongside him and snatched a bag which contained R15 000 in cash in it. The suspects then fled in their getaway vehicle. We traced the registration of the vehicle, which was caught on CCTV camera and it came up as false. We are urging residents to avoid carrying large sums of money, and consider electronic banking, which is a safer option,” he said.
