Greenwood Park police make their presence known

Station commander Col Mngadi said the SAPS would be carrying out operations in the area throughout Friday.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS say they are out in full force on Friday. Speaking to the station commander, Colonel (Col) Mbongeni Mngadi said that 51 vehicles were stopped in a roadblock along Riverside Road.

“No arrests or recovery of items were made during the search of 70 people on Riverside Road this morning. The purpose of the operation is to prevent crime by searching vehicles for stolen property, drugs and dangerous weapons,” said Mngadi.

The station commander went on to say they would be carrying out patrols of service stations, business districts, banks and ATMS today. He said this is when criminals target people to rob them of their cash.

Col Mngadi added, “We will also be carrying out operations on Friday evening that focus on shebeens.”
