House breaking suspect arrested in uMhlanga

The suspects were spotted by the Crime Prevention Unit on a property on Lagoon Drive.

DURBAN North SAPS are still looking for two suspects involved in an attempted house break-in on Lagoon Drive on Friday. It’s alleged the suspects attempted to flee when spotted by police officers on patrol in the area. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the station’s Crime Prevention Unit spotted the suspects who had gained access to the uMhlanga home. The incident occurred just after 8am.

“A foot chase ensued and one of the suspects was arrested. He was found in possession of a house break-in implement. The SAPS K9 Unit were called in to assist in the search of the two remaining suspects who fled into the bushes near the uMhlanga Lagoon. The search proved fruitless and the suspects remain at large,” he said.

Deokaran added the suspect who was arrested, was a known felon. He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
