uMgeni Park supermarket cashier robbed by armed suspects
A security guard who tried to intervene was struck over the head by one of the suspects.

A CASHIER who was on her way to deposit money into a drop safe at an uMgeni Park supermarket was robbed by three men on Friday night. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security the incident occurred at about 7.55pm on Browns Drift Road.
“While one of the cashiers was on her way from one store to another to deposit cash into the drop safe, she was confronted by three suspects in the car park. One of the suspects produced a firearm and demanded that she hand over the bag of cash.

“The suspects then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a gold Toyota Corolla. The security guard on site was struck on the head with the firearm when he tried to intervene. Crisis Medical attended to him, and he later refused hospital transport,” he said.
The incident comes a day after a gang of men robbed the Checkers LiquorShop Virginia Circle. The gang, carrying sledgehammers and firearms smashed through the glass window of the shop before making off with several bottles of alcohol.
