Armed men storm doctor’s surgery

The total value of the stolen items was R564 200.

TWO armed suspects held up a doctor’s surgery on Wednesday in Avoca Hills. The alleged incident took place at about 12.45pm at Gowran Gardens. According to Sergeant Vincent Mthembu, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS, besides robbing the patients of their valuables, the suspects also stole the doctor’s vehicle.

“The suspects entered the surgery armed with a handgun and a knife and held up patients as well as the doctor. They threatened them demanding their valuables.  They took the doctor’s vehicle, laptops, cash and jewellery and fled. The total value of the stolen items was R564 200. His vehicle was later recovered in the KwaMashu area.

“I urge businesses such as doctors offices to install panic buttons and report suspicious people to the SAPS. We are appealing to members of the public who might be able to assist with the information about the robbery to contact Greenwood Park SAPS on 031 5716512/3 or 10111,” Mthembu said.
