A MAN was robbed of his cell phone by two men at knife-point on Wager Avenue in Prestondale on Sunday. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the man was walking to catch a taxi when the incident occurred at about 4.30pm.
“The men approached the victim on the auspices of looking for help. One of the suspects then pulled out a knife and demanded the man’s cell phone. They then fled on foot in the direction of the mall. Thankfully, the victim was unharmed in the incident,” he said.
A case of common robbery has been opened at the Durban North station.
Earlier this year, police warned of two men who pretend to ask for directions before robbing the unsuspecting victims.
Durban North SAPS has urged domestic workers, where possible to try and walk in big groups to avoid falling victim to muggings.
