Orange bag collection on hold says City

Residents are urged to keep their recyclables in their orange and clear bags in their homes or yards until further notice.

THE eThekwini Municipality has advised residents that the collection of orange recycling bags have temporarily been put on hold.

In a statement the eThekwini Municipality’s Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (DSW) said they have had to temporarily close the Kerbside Recycling Programme known as the Orange Recycling Bag Programme.

“They programme is currently closed due to repairs taking place at the plant of our recycling partner, MPACT. Repairs are expected to be completed by mid-January. Residents are urged to keep their recyclables in their orange and clear bags in their homes or yards until further notice. For more information on the recycling programme, please call Zanele Dlamini, on 031 303 1665,” said the City’s spokesperson, Tozi Mthethwa.

In October last year, the City said repairs to the plant would be done within four weeks, however repairs have not been completed timeously.
