DA launches VAT petition

"ANC government is trying to make us pay back money they stole by increasing VAT," said DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane.

THE Democratic Alliance has vowed to do all it can to make sure that VAT increase does not happen. During his budget speech last week, Former Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba announced that VAT would increase by one per cent, becoming 15 per cent.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane said the ANC led government wants to make South Africans pay for money stolen by the party.

Maimane added that the increase will make life even harder for citizens.

“This VAT increase means that parents will pay more when they buy school uniforms and books for their children, and mothers will pay more for nappies and other basics. Meanwhile, the budget makes no cuts to the bonuses and salaries of high ranking government officials.” he said
