Security guard shot dead at King Shaka Airport

The guard was shot while waiting for her lift near the south gate staff entrance.

A FEMALE security guard was shot and killed while waiting for transport at King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday night. According to Colin Naidoo, senior manager of corporate affairs at King Shaka, the incident occurred at about 7.35pm.

“A security guard was shot by a fellow security guard while waiting for her lift near the south gate staff entrance to the airport. The reason behind the incident are still being investigated,” Naidoo said.

The airport said it extended its condolences to the family of the security officer.

It is understood, the other security guard involved in the shooting handed himself over to the police.

Naidoo added the incident did not cause any operational delays at the airport.
