TAKE NOTE: Saftu strike road closures in Durban

Dr Pixley KaSeme Street and all roads that intersect with it will be affected.

MOTORISTS are urged to avoid the Durban CBD today, as South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) members have vowed to shut down the City.

The union has planned a nationwide strike, marching against the introduction of the national minimum wage.

Ethekwini Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad said they will be monitoring the march closely.

“In conjunction with other role players in the city, we have a bold plan to manage the march in the City today. However, there are over 3000 participants expected to attend,” he said.

Federation of unions COSATU, will not take part in the nationwide strike.

The march is expected to end at 1pm.
