Father and daughter ‘udder’ly committed to CHOC
Gords Reid will be riding on a tandem bike with his youngest daughter, Erin (11), who will be attempting her first-ever Amashova.
WHENEVER there is a charitable cause, Gords Reid is never far behind in supporting the initiative. The Danville Avenue resident and longtime supporter of the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) is this year, tackling the 106 kilometre event of the Tsogo Sun Amashova Cycle Classic in aid of the charity.
He will be riding on a tandem bike with his youngest daughter, Erin (11), who will be attempting her first-ever Amashova.
Reid, is part of the CHOC Cows, the fundraising arm of the foundation that have become distinctive features on any of the sporting events because of their reliably raucous and fun-loving approach and their unmissable outfits.

“I’ve managed to cycle on a tandem bicycle with my eldest daughter, Amy at the Tour Durban and I’m really looking forward to cycling this one with my youngest, Erin. We are tackling the 106 kilometre event which will be tough but we are just going to take it easy and have loads of fun. It’s all about soaking up the atmosphere and not being competitive,” he said.
Erin, who is a Grade 6 learner at Virginia Preparatory School said she is excited to cycle her first long distance event.
“I’m a little nervous but also excited to ride with my dad. The training has been going well and I’m looking forward to Sunday,” she said.
