Five cyclists injured in M4 hit-and-run

The cyclists were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

FIVE Cyclists are recovering after they were hit by a vehicle on the M4. The five men were cycling just after the uMhlanga turnoff when a car crashed into them.

Netcare 911 paramedics spokesperson Shawn Herbst said,”At 7.47am Sunday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the M4 north bound. Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a light motor vehicle ploughed into five cyclists and then fled the scene.”

The patients sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

“Once stabilized the patients were transported to hospital for further treatment,”said Herbst.

He added that Durban North SAPS attended to the scene.
