Durban Magistrate’s Court shooter dies

It is believed the officer was waiting at the court for divorce proceedings to begin.

THE police officer involved in the fatal shooting of his wife and her brother at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday has died.

National police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele confirmed the officer had died in hospital after he had turned the gun on himself following the shooting on the eighth floor of the building.

It is believed the officer was waiting at the court for divorce proceedings to begin.

She said the police would open an inquest docket following the incident.

Rescue Care Paramedics Garrith Jamieson confirmed a fourth patient was treated by his staff for a hand injury related to the shooting incident on Monday.
