Miss Umhlanga 2018 winners crowned

The entry fees of R150 per entrant were used to purchase much-needed items for Girls and Boys Town, an organisation in nearby Verulam that cares for teenage children.

UMHLANGA Main Beach was hot and happening on Monday, 17 December when dozens of beautiful girls took part in the tenth Miss Umhlanga Beauty pageant.

With the ocean and sand as a backdrop, and a breeze to cool the 30-degree sunshine, the competition was fun and relaxed.

Many fresh-faced, natural beauties made the judges’ decision of first, second and third places extremely difficult. Other fun prizes awarded were: Miss Most Potential, Miss Photogenic, Mrs Umhlanga (Mom) and Miss Best Groomed.

The winners were: first, Ruchelle Debruin (17 years); second, Demmi Meek (20 years) and third, Tina Nkangane (23 years).

Winners walked away with prizes valued at more than R20 000 in total. The entry fees of R150 per entrant were used to purchase much-needed items for Girls and Boys Town, an organisation in nearby Verulam that cares for teen children. A total of R5 550 was raised for the organisation.
