“Receiving my KZN colours was a proud moment for me as it’s a goal I’ve been working towards. Since a young age, I’ve always had a passion for music, specifically percussionist. I’m the drummer for the orchestra and it’s been an honour being part of a special group of musicians who are all as passionate as I am,” 10-year-old Huven said.

His brother, Tiashan, paid tribute to his mom and dad, who he says has supported him from the start.
“My mom and dad have supported both Huven and I in our musical journey and that makes a huge difference. I’ve been with the orchestra for three years and it’s been amazing. To have my brother play alongside me is also special. I play the violin for the orchestra and that’s been my main instrument since I was a young child. I remember my music teacher introducing me to the violin and I remember being mesmerised by the instrument,” Tiashan said.
Tiashan has now been selected for Gauteng Chamber Music Festival which gets underway this month.
