uMgeni Park housebreaker nabbed

The suspect and his accomplice had initially attempted to break into a property in Manilla Place.

A BLUE Security armed response officer arrested an alleged housebreaker in Umgeni Park in Durban North on Friday. The company’s community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said two suspects had initially attempted to break into a property in Manilla Place.

“However the suspects fled when they spotted an armed response officer approaching the premises at around 10.45am. The suspects had damaged the fence and managed to flee the scene. The determined suspects then forced open the garage door of a property in Buttery Road where they stole a braai set, a pair of shoes and some curtains,” Mathios said.

Mathios said a neighbour had spotted the suspects while they were breaking into the garage and alerted Blue Security to the housebreaking in progress at around 10.50am.

“When our officer responded to the scene the suspects dropped the goods they had stolen from the garage and attempted to flee. Our officer gave chase and arrested one of the suspects but the second suspect managed to evade arrest,” he said.

The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS at the scene.
