63-year-old tied-up in eMdloti armed robbery

The suspects made off with a number of items including R5 000 in cash.

DURBAN North SAPS are still searching for four men involved in the armed robbery of a eMdloti home on Thursday morning. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, the elderly homeowner was gagged and tied-up in the robbery.

The robbery occurred at about 7am on 5th Avenue police confirmed.

“The four-man gang were all dressed in dark clothing and caps gained entry to the home by cutting the fence of the property. They entered the home and confronted the 63-year-old resident. He was struck by one the suspects who used the butt of the gun. They demanded the keys to the safe and then gagged and tied him up before ransacking the home.

“The suspects made off with two laptops, an iPhone, jewellery and R5000 in cash. The suspects fled on foot and no shots were fired in the incident,” he said.
