Man shot and killed in hijacking on Queen Nandi Drive

Greenwood Park police are investigating the murder of the victim believed to be in his 20s.

POLICE are investigating the death of a man who was shot and killed in an alleged hijacking incident on Queen Nandi Drive on Tuesday night.

It is believed the man was a private taxi driver and was in the vehicle with his girlfriend when the hijacking occurred just after 11pm.

According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the driver was declared deceased on arrival.

“It is alleged two suspects, who came on foot, confronted the victim in the incident before shooting him and making off with his car. The victim’s girlfriend managed to get out of the vehicle and was unharmed in the incident. Greenwood Park police were in attendance and secured the crime scene,” van Reenen said.

Rescue Care Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, said the victim sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper body.

“The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the chest and abdomen and was declared dead on scene. It is alleged the suspects made off with the driver’s Toyota Etios in the hijacking,” he said.
