Two arrested after N2 shootout and foot chase

One of the suspects was shot and injured in the incident.

TWO suspects were arrested following a shootout and foot chase on the N2 highway on Sunday afternoon.

According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred at about 3.40pm.

“We received an alert for a business robbery in progress at a hair salon in Avoca Road and armed reaction officers were immediately dispatched. On arrival on scene two suspects were seen fleeing across Umhlangane Road into a dense bush adjacent to the N2 highway and a foot chase ensued.

“The armed suspects began firing at responding officers as members of the SAPS arrived to assist. One suspect sustained gunshot wounds to his legs, the second was arrested. The injured suspect was treated by KZN EMS paramedics before being taken to nearby Addington Hospital under police guard, for further care,” he said.

Greenwood Park police were also in attendance.
