A TAXI driver, from an e-hailing service, was assaulted in his vehicle last Friday in La Lucia.
According to Durban North SAPS spokesman, Capt Raymond Deokaran, police are looking for three suspects in connection with the assault and theft of the driver’s vehicle.
The incident occurred at about 11.30pm.

“The driver was taking three men from Davenport to a shopping centre in uMhlanga when one of the passengers asked the driver to pull over so he could relieve himself. The driver refused saying they would be at their destination very soon. One of the passengers then began strangling the driver to make him stop the vehicle and in the process cut the driver’s cheek.
“The driver stopped his vehicle in La Lucia and jumped out of the vehicle seeking assistance. When officers responded to the scene, the driver’s vehicle was missing. Although the vehicle was later recovered, north of Durban, charges of assault and theft of a motor vehicle have been opened,” he said.
No arrests have yet been made, confirmed Deokaran.
