Durban mourns the loss of well-known traffic man

Johan Van Bargen died yesterday.

ON 3 November 2017 East Coast Radio deejay, Kerri Miller Tweeted, “Today is the last day for JVB #TheTrafficGuy. Thank you for 33 years of amazing reporting. WE LOVE YOU! “

Media reports previously referred to Johan von Bargen aka JVB or the Traffic Guy as the ‘longest serving radio traffic guy in the country’.

Today, Durban residents woke up to the news that the Durban North resident had died yesterday, after fighting lymphoma for seven years.

On their website, the commercial radio station, ECR said in a statement: “JVB had been battling with cancer for quite some time and as the East Coast Radio Family we are devastated by the news.  He leaves behind his wife Barbra and we will share more information when the family are ready for us to do so. We ask that you respect their privacy in this time of mourning.

Thank you for everything you did for the people of KZN JVB, we will miss you. Rest well Johann Von Bargen.”
