Suspect arrested in uMhlanga robbery linked to several break-ins

The suspect has been positively linked to three incidents in the uMhlanga area.

A SUSPECT arrested in connection with an armed robbery of an elderly couple on Marine Drive last month has been linked more than three house break-ins in the uMhlanga area.

According to Kyle van Reenen, spokesman for Marshall Security, the suspect, at the time, was found in possession of two iPhones as well clothing, shoes and electronic equipment taken from the same premises.

“Marshall Armed Response and Marshall Forensics worked with the Durban North SAPS detectives on the case and discovered the suspect was out on parole for a similar offence (house breaking) was released in October last year.

“The suspect also identified a second accomplice involved in the break-ins who was recently arrested. He also said he concentrated on doors and windows that were left unlocked in the uMhlanga area (including Chartwell Drive, Marine Drive and Ridge).  The suspect identified 20 homes he broke into and was linked positively to three from fingerprints,” he said.
