This event, hosted in conjunction with the South African School Band Association and the Durban Music School, will see ensembles of all forms compete in front of a professional panel of adjudicators in a massive two-day musical spectacular.

PRIMARY and High School marching bands, marimba bands, wind bands and orchestras from around South Africa will descend on Reddam House Umhlanga this week as the school proudly hosts the South African National Band and Orchestra Competition.

This event, hosted in conjunction with the South African School Band Association and the Durban Music School, will see ensembles of all forms compete in front of a professional panel of adjudicators in a massive two-day musical spectacular.

“This is the first time in many years that the National Competition has been hosted Durban and we cannot wait to have all of these wonderful ensembles here at Reddam House Umhlanga, not to mention, have our own Orchestra be part of the event. Music is such a valued part of our school’s culture and the opportunity to share this with schools from around South Africa is a real privilege,” said Russell Scott, director of music at Reddam.

From primary school marimba bands, to University orchestras, the day will be one to remembered as the all groups put on their best performances to wow judges and audiences.

Tickets are R40 per person and available at the door. For more information, email russell.scott@reddam.house.
