A fun day for fundraising in Greenwood Park
The group recently partnered with the Greenwood Park Lean Drug Action Group to join the fight against drug abuse.
GREENWOOD Park residents who banded together to form Caring Hearts Helping Hands (CHHH) hosted a fun day for the community recently at Parkhill Secondary School.
“The purpose of today’s event is to raise funds for the underprivileged children in the community. We are making shoe box gifts for the children and hope to host a Christmas party on 20 December,” said Melanie Ray of CHHH.
CHHH Founder, Jackie Mc Kuur said she was inspired to uplift the community after attending an ACTS course with her church.

“ACTS stands for adoration, community, theology and service and we were inspired by the sense of community service,” she said.

“One of our main visions was to inspire teenagers in our area. They are very idle and there is a lot of drug use taking place. The Lean drug, where codeine cough syrup is mixed with cool drink is happening in our schools and area, so when we saw a message on one of our community groups mentioned an initiative, we thought, it fit in with our vision and we needed to get connected with them. We are trying to find out where teens are buying codeine medications from and get parents involved,” she said.
