La Lucia hairdressers praised for quick-thinking

Netcare 911 paramedics were called to the scene but the mother and son duo did everything they could to help a teenager during a medical emergency.

A DURBAN North mother has praised the quick-thinking actions of hairdressers Jordan and Lois Foss who helped her daughter after she collapsed in a medical emergency at a hair salon in La Lucia.

Adele Bromley’s daughter, Hannah, had booked an appointment at Behind the Scissors based on Forest Drive when she suddenly became light headed and collapsed to the ground.

Netcare 911 paramedics were called to the scene but the mother and son duo did everything they could to help Hannah in the interim including placing a pillow under her head and wet towels over her forehead to bring her temperature down.

Speaking to Northglen News, Lois said she knew something was wrong when she noticed the young learner’s complexion.

“My son Jordan was explaining how to style her hair using a flattening iron and I noticed straight away that something was wrong. She was snow white and I asked ‘are you okay?’ and she said needed to sit down and collapsed into my hands. Jordan and I got to work immediately and we took her to another room and laid her down on the floor. I used a pillow to support her head and then got a wet towel to put over her forehead because she began getting hot and clammy,” Lois explained.

Hannah’s mom, Adele said the duo were phenomenal in a very scary time.

“She had initially passed out with Lois holding her and eventually came too. I then sat next to her and she passed out again. It was really scary seeing your daughter in that way. Lois helped me get her to lie down on the floor, putting wet towels on her as she was very hot. I phoned the paramedics and half way through the call Jordan took the phone and gave them the details as I was sitting with Hannah.

“They checked on us the whole time and helped until the paramedics arrived and even walked with us to the ambulance making sure everything was alright. Jordan and Lois were absolutely phenomenal and I don’t know how I would have managed without them. Hannah is okay now and I’m just grateful for their help,” Adele said.
