North Durban artists raise funds for furry friends

The funds were handed over to the non-profit organisation this week.

THE North Coast Artists Exhibition, held at La Lucia Mall recently, raised R30 431 for the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, which relies solely on donations so it can assist animals in need.

“We were amazed and humbled that, with our 44 exhibitors, we sold a record 150 paintings. We were delighted to have been able to hand the sum of money to the organisation,” said the event organiser, Jenny Smith,

The handover took place at the mall on Thursday.

Smith thanked each person who purchased a piece of art as it played an integral part in enabling the artists to make such a hearty donation.

I am Candyce Pillay – fun, energetic and always positive. Community journalism has been a part of my life for 18 years – something I always say with pride when I am asked. As a journalist, I am forever the favourer of the underdog. When I am not penning the latest human interest piece, crime or municipal bit, and occasionally a sports update, you can find me in the place I love most – at home with my beautiful family – cooking up a storm, soaking up the sun with a gin and tonic in hand or binge-watching a good series or documentary.
