Support Tafta at Durban North market

The cost to enter is R5 per person which gives access to service and product offerings from a wide variety of vendors.

DELICIOUS meals, activities, and lots of colour are some of the things you can look forward to at The Association for The Aged (Tafta) Market Day taking place tomorrw.

The event takes place at the North Durban Lions Club, who are sponsors of the event, on Saturday, March 26 from 09:00 to 16:00 and promises to be fun for the entire family.

“If you are looking for a fun and safe way to spend time with family or friends, and kick-off the school holidays, look no further,” said Tafta CEO, Femada Shamam.

Funds raised will go towards the Needy Pensioners Fund that assists elders in need.

“The cause our patrons and vendors would be supporting is Tafta’s Needy Pensioners Fund which enables Tafta to give financially dependent elders the love, care and support services they need,” said Shamam.

These services include counselling, intervention, rehabilitation, community engagement, social clubs and wellness centres.

“The programme also seeks to meet the basic rights and needs of elders by providing them with essential goods such as toiletries, medication, clothes, incontinence wear, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Elders requiring financial assistance to pay medical bills, ambulance fees and cover the cost of assistive devices also have access to the Needy Pensioners Fund,” explained Shamam.

Tafta will host a karaoke stand, as well as a lucky raffle draw for a prize worth more than R500 and a colour splash festival to brighten up the dull tones of autumn.

“Our fundraising team has been securing vendors to ensure that every type of palate will be satisfied. With options ranging from Mexican, Indian, flame grilled and authentic South African cuisine to delectable desserts and baked goods. You will surely be satisfied with what’s on offer,” said Shamam.

She encouraged patrons to bring along their picnic blankets or camp chairs to enjoy a meal from one of the food stalls under the open sky.
