Men arrested in Effingham for possession of suspected stolen property

The men could not give armed response officers or SAPS an explanation as to how they came to be in possession of the metal springs.

TWO pedestrians walking along Effingham Road on Tuesday night were nabbed with suspected stolen metal in their possession.

“The two heavy-duty industrial springs were stolen from the railway line and found in their possession,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Armed response officers detained and questioned the men after noticing their suspicious behaviour, while patrolling the area.

” While interviewing the suspects they could not give a reasonable explanation as to how they had come to have the items in their possession,” he said.

The Greenwood Park SAPS and Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) were notified and arrived on scene a shortly after.

They were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen items.
