E-hailing driver stabbed – hijacked in Greenwood Park

This is the second incident involving an e-hailing driver being hijacked, that Marshall officers have responded to in just over a week.

AN e-hailing driver was attacked and hijacked while waiting to fetch passengers in Greenwood Park on Monday night.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the driver was stabbed several times and sought assistance from a nearby bottle store on Effingham Road.

The store owner then contacted Marshall Security.

“Our team arrived in a matter of minutes and managed to stabilise the wounded victim while other members of our special operations team assisted Bidtrack to locate the hijacked vehicle,” said Powell.

“Two suspects approached the driver, one armed with a knife, and then hijacked the motorist of his white Toyota Corolla,” he added.

The victim was stabbed multiple times on the head, chest, arm and hand.

“Members of our special operations team administered first aid and intermediate life support to the critically wounded victim, and managed to stabilise the victim on scene,” said Powell.

The hijacked vehicle was recovered and found abandoned in Newlands East, 20 minutes later.

Netcare911 arrived, and paramedics transported the driver to hospital.

Greenwood Park SAPS are investigating a case of hijacking and attempted murder.
