A 60-YEAR-OLD man has been pronounced dead after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest on the M4 Ruth First Highway near the Virginia Airport off-ramp.

According to Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, rescue personnel from Netcare 911 and multiple other emergency services responded to the scene of the accident.

“When first responders arrived on scene, they found that a single light motor vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into the bushes. Emergency services alerted paramedics that the driver of the vehicle appeared to be suffering a medical emergency, and paramedics responded to the scene.

“On arrival on scene, a male, approximately 60, was found in a state of cardiac arrest. Advanced life support paramedics and emergency care practitioners worked fervently for over an hour, in an extensive effort to resuscitate the man, however, efforts were unsuccessful,” he said.

Van Reenen offered his condolences to the man’s family following the tragedy.
