Motorist dies in Avoca accident

The driver of the delivery vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

ONE person died and 16 others were injured after a high-speed collision between a taxi and a delivery vehicle in the Avoca area on Monday evening.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said Emer-G-Med paramedics, together with other roleplayers, attended the scene at the intersection of Chris Hani and Victor Roads just after 17h00.

“It was established by scene commanders that sixteen people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious,” he said.

“The driver of the delivery vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival by paramedics,” added Van Reenen.

The injured were taken to various hospitals after being treated and stabilised on scene.
